About the Client

Our client is an innovative company dedicated to optimizing business processes and embracing automation to drive efficiency. They are looking to expand their team to support and enhance their legacy infrastructure, which spans across multiple platforms. As they prepare to transition to ERP NEXT and further automate their workflows, they need a Software Engineering & Automation Specialist (ERP & Zapier) to help evolve their systems and documentation practices.

Position Overview

Primary Focus: Automating business processes using low-code platforms (Zapier, Google Sheets/Scripts) and ERP integration (ERP NEXT)

The Software Engineering & Automation Specialist (ERP & Zapier) will take ownership of the client’s current infrastructure and work on improving and automating key processes. This includes inheriting legacy systems, understanding their limitations, and then optimizing them using technologies like Google Sheets, Google Scripts, Zapier, and other automation tools. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Python and JavaScript and will have experience with ERP systems, particularly ERP NEXT.

This role will be key in documentation, process optimization, and improving existing workflows with a primary focus on automation and AI integrations. The candidate should be a strategic thinker, understanding when to push back on ideas due to potential technical debt or when a more scalable solution is needed. They should also be able to suggest new ideas based on the system’s holistic needs once they are onboarded.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management and Automation

• Inherit and assess the current legacy infrastructure (Google Sheets, Google Scripts, ERP, Zapier) to understand its functionality, limitations, and potential improvements.
  
  

• Optimize and automate business processes using Zapier, Google Sheets, Google Scripts, and other automation tools.
  
  

• Design and implement solutions that scale the existing infrastructure, transitioning to ERP NEXT when the time is right.
  
  

• Build and maintain integrations between Google Sheets, Zapier, and other platforms to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
  
  

Process Improvement & Documentation

• Document all processes, systems, and workflows to ensure clarity and future scalability. This includes technical documentation for future maintenance and troubleshooting.
  
  

• Analyze current workflows and identify opportunities to reduce friction and inefficiencies.
  
  

• Recommend and implement improvements to legacy systems, ensuring they align with the broader business goals and technical roadmap.
  
  

Collaboration & Strategic Thinking

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, understanding business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
  
  

• Provide technical insights on how to improve processes and workflows, proactively suggesting new features or improvements based on experience and understanding of the system.
  
  

• Know when to push back on short-term solutions that introduce technical debt, and propose better long-term solutions that align with the broader roadmap.
  
  

ERP System Integration & Future Planning

• Take a lead role in the migration to ERP NEXT, collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure a smooth transition and system integration. Project Management experience is highly preferred.
  
  

• Prepare and execute the setup of ERP NEXT, including configuring modules, integrations, and workflows to meet business needs.
  
  

• Support ongoing ERP customizations and integrations as needed, ensuring a scalable and maintainable system.
  
  

AI & Automation Integration

• Leverage AI and other advanced automation tools to optimize workflows, enhance efficiency, and reduce human error.
  
  

• Use AI-driven solutions where applicable to enhance existing processes and recommend innovative solutions based on new technologies.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in automation platforms such as Zapier, Google Sheets, Google Scripts, and ERP systems.
  
  

• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and SQL/NoSQL databases, with experience in building automation tools and scripts.
  
  

• Experience with ERP systems and the ability to integrate legacy systems with modern solutions.
  
  

• Strong documentation skills, able to clearly define processes, systems, and workflows for future reference.
  
  

• A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify inefficiencies in systems and propose effective solutions.
  
  

• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  
  

• Familiarity with API integrations and data pipelines for automating workflows and system interactions.
  
  

• Experience leading cross-functional technical projects or initiatives.
  
  

• Proven ability to make long-term architectural decisions and prioritize scalability.
  
  

• Strong preference for candidates who have managed project timelines, tech stack evaluations, or platform transitions (ERP migration, automation rebuilds, etc.).
  
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ERP NEXT or similar ERP systems (e.g., Odoo, SAP) is highly desirable.
  
  

• Knowledge of AI integration in business processes, particularly with tools like machine learning algorithms for automating tasks and predictions.
  
  

• Understanding of technical debt and experience with long-term solutions that prioritize scalability and sustainability.
